He spent one season as an assistant hitting coach with the Chicago Cubs…Under Haines(and hitting coach Chili Davis), the Cubs led the National League in batting average (.258) and ranked second in on-base percentage (.333) in 2018…Served Chicago as minor league hitting coordinator from 2016-17… Spent eight seasons (2008-15) with the Miami Marlins, where he joined the organization in 2008 as Rookie GCLMarlins hitting coach…Also managed in the Miami farm system from 2009-15 at Class-A Jamestown (2009), Class-A Greensboro (2010-11), Class-A Jupiter (2012-13) and Triple-A New Orleans (2014-15)…Won the South Atlantic League championship in 2011 and went to the Florida State League Championship Series in 2012…Won the Arizona Fall League championship with Salt River in 2014…Was manager of the Windy City Thunderbolts of the independent Frontier League in 2007, where he won the league championship and set the league record for wins (68-28) …Was the third base coach with the Gary Railcats of the independent Northern League from 2005-06…Has coached in the college ranks at Olney Central Junior College (2001) and Middle Tennessee State University (2000-05), serving as an assistant coach in both spots.
PLAYING CAREER:
Played collegiately at Eastern Illinois University, where he was an All-Ohio Valley Conference catcher in 2000.
